The user retention policy operates in two phases:

Soft delete phase

Users who have been deactivated for longer than the configured retention period are soft-deleted.

Permanent deletion phase

Soft-deleted users are permanently removed after 90 days. During this period, user data is retained and can be restored if needed. After the 90-day period, the data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

If the user retention policy is enabled on an existing installation, it behaves as follows:

On the first run, all users who have been deactivated longer than the retention period are soft-deleted. Any users who have already been soft-deleted for more than 90 days are permanently deleted.
